Green Industries SA (GISA), a state government agency with approximately 30 staff, is an enabler and driver of change, supporting the development of the circular economy through diverse collaborations and partnerships which improve productivity, resilience, resource efficiency and the environment. GISA keeps South Australia at the forefront of green innovation in the waste, recycling and resource recovery sectors, delivers reduced waste to landfill and increases the state’s capacity for recycling and builds the capability and resilience in the area of disaster waste management.


Reporting to and working in close partnership with the Board and Minister for Climate, Environment and Water, the Chief Executive (CE) will drive and deliver the overall strategy, vision and performance of the agency, ensuring alignment with the vision and values.  You will be responsible for providing strategy and policy advice to government, whilst promoting a more economically and environmentally sustainable future.  Working closely with industry, this role will require strong stakeholder management and working with key partners across local and state government to achieve the goals for the economy, whilst focusing on industry economic development, government leadership in sustainability and supporting waste management and resource recovery.


This role requires an engaging leader, with strong relationships across the public sector, who can influence and build stakeholder relationships, especially within government, that add value. With previous executive experience across environmental services, waste management, sustainably or like sectors, coupled with public policy development, you will have strong problem solving skills and a strategic mindset. With proven experience leading teams, delivering on Board expectations and driving governance, you will have knowledge and experience of the economic impact of environmental policy and be a passionate advocate for sustainability.
