The National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) is a trusted national organisation that delivers high-quality data and insights to support Australia’s vocational education and training (VET) system. Its mission is to provide meaningful data and insights on the VET system. It is a not-for-profit company headquartered in Adelaide, with around 130 staff and annual revenue of nearly $30 million.
Jointly owned by commonwealth, state and territory Ministers responsible for VET, NCVER plays a critical national role in supporting evidence-based policy and practice across the skills and training system. NCVER is undergoing a period of significant transformation to meet renewed expectations from governments and stakeholders.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this newly created role of Chief Product and Data Officer (CPDO) is a pivotal executive position with oversight of NCVER’s product, data and engagement functions. Leading a division of over 60 staff, the CPDO will be responsible for enhancing NCVER’s product portfolio, including curated publications, self-service data platforms and bespoke consultancy, while ensuring strong stakeholder engagement, robust data governance and quality, and effective communications.
A forward-thinking leader, you will have deep expertise in data, analytics or digital product development, ideally gained within government, education or adjacent sectors. Your ability to translate complex information into relevant, engaging insights will be matched by strong stakeholder engagement skills and experience with service transformation. You will bring a track record of leading through change, building high-performing teams and delivering strategic initiatives in environments with shifting expectations. A background in the VET sector is preferred, but not essential. This role offers a unique opportunity for a leader with ambition to contribute meaningfully to Australia’s skills landscape.
Join NCVER to shape the future of VET data and insights in Australia and support the sector through a period of renewal and growth. With your strategic leadership, stakeholder acumen and data expertise, you will help deliver services that are relevant, trusted and impactful.
